Architecture

A wise man once said to play the universe. We show you what happens when universes collide.

Based in Cleveland, Ohio, Black Voltron delivers electrifying live performances rooted in deep musicianship, emotional storytelling, and undeniable groove. Drawing from classical training, church-influenced harmony, and a wide range of lived experiences, the band connects with audiences across venues of all sizes—often leaving crowds with goosebumps. Their sound blends jazz, hip-hop, neo-soul, house/disco, and global influences into something both adventurous and approachable. Equal parts technically precise and deeply human, Black Voltron honors musical tradition while pushing it forward, creating performances that feel expansive, joyful, and alive. When Black Voltron comes together, the result is a shared experience, one that welcomes listeners in and reminds them how powerful live music can be. When Black Voltron unites, they can play "anything".

Biography

Formed in 2024 by Hyperius Blake (Cleveland Arts Prize Winner), Black Voltron brings together musicians from diverse backgrounds. They represent true community—the magic that happens when artists prioritize authenticity, understanding, and connection over clout. Hyperius founded Black Voltron to share their compositions and arrangements with the world. Their work is built on the principle that music is more than just entertainment - it fosters spiritual and mental healing, and is a pillar of humanity.

Black Voltron has performed all over Northeast Ohio, including venues such as the Rock & Roll of Fame and the Bop Stop. Their members have experience in wedding bands, world music ensembles, church choirs, jazz combos and more. Blending classical training with forward-thinking sensibilities, Black Voltron crafts music that's both complex and familiar, groovy yet deeply intentional. This is music that touches hearts, challenges assumptions, and celebrates joy. This is high art. This is musical alchemy. We are Black Voltron.
